The Freetown City Council (FCC) on Thursday welcomed a delegation from Abundant Life Charity to discuss a potential collaboration aimed at improving learning conditions in municipal schools across the capital.
The charity, founded by Madam Dennisia Akran, is a humanitarian organisation dedicated to enhancing educational environments and supporting underprivileged children throughout Sierra Leone.
The delegation was received by Mayor Yvonne Aki-Sawyerr, OBE, alongside the Council’s Deputy Head of Education. The Mayor expressed appreciation for the organisation’s commitment to supporting three key municipal schools: Thomas Peters Municipal Primary School, Dr. June Holst Roness Municipal Infant Primary School, and Fattah Rahman Municipal Infant Primary School.
The proposed support will also extend to the S.M. Broderick Home Economics Centre and the Circular Road Home Economics Centre. Key interventions under discussion include the establishment of school libraries, provision of educational materials, and assistance to orphaned and vulnerable pupils through uniforms and essential learning supplies.
As a next step, Abundant Life Charity is expected to submit a formal proposal outlining a structured framework for collaboration with the Council.
The engagement marks another step in the FCC’s ongoing efforts to strengthen partnerships aimed at transforming learning spaces and uplifting young lives in Freetown.
