The fourth season of the reality TV show “Housemates Salone” has sparked public outcry and a debate over broadcasting standards after two contestants were filmed having sex during a live broadcast.

The incident involved contestants Michael Ettekamba Williams, known as “Numba One,” and Marian Lasimoh.

Cameras captured the pair in the act in the early hours of Monday morning, while other housemates were asleep, following a Sunday night party in the house.

The footage quickly prompted strong reactions from viewers and commentators online, with many raising questions about ethical broadcasting and the regulation of content in Sierra Leonean media.

Prominent social commentator Vickie Remoe publicly questioned the oversight of reality television, asking:

“Does Media Commission in Sierra Leone regulate reality TV shows? If yes, is sex on TV okay? And if it’s okay should there not be a warning about safe sex during broadcast?”

Other netizens expressed disappointment, with many highlighting the show’s influence on young people. One commenter, Nella Jay, pointed out the contradiction, noting that some contestants “visit schools and do awareness campaign… and also the student them [are] following the show.”

Further reactions questioned the educational value of the program. A comment from Ibrahim Karim asked, “What are the benefits or the good thing [that] the youth them [can] learn from?”

Another viewer, Ibrahim Bangura, simply stated, “Come on it’s not worth looking,” a sentiment echoed by others who called the act inappropriate for public television.
