Sierra Leonean music legend Jimmy B has taken to Facebook to provide an update on the funeral arrangements for the late Steady Bongo, urging unity and collaboration among industry stakeholders.

In his post, Jimmy B recounted being invited by the family of Steady Bongo to attend a meeting at the late musician’s residence on Sunday at 10:00 am.

Arriving early, he facilitated efforts to ensure other prominent industry figures, including Ambassadors Kao Denero and Laj, were present to pay their respects and contribute to the deliberations.

Jimmy B noted that the meeting proceeded smoothly, with his contributions being warmly received by Steady Bongo’s elder brother.

Thirty-five minutes into the discussion, Ambassador Laj arrived, while Ambassador Kao Denero assured him of his impending arrival.

Following the meeting, Jimmy B called on several music industry members present, including King Fisher and IB Blog, to convene at his residence on Monday at 11:00 am to continue discussions.

However, upon learning about Ambassador Kao Denero’s proposed meeting for the same day at 2:00 pm, he decided to cancel his earlier plans to avoid confusion and ensure a united front.

“In order not to confuse the public and create a negative vibe, I am asking all who were to attend the 11:00 am meeting at my place to kindly cancel and attend Amb. Kao’s 2:00 pm proposed meeting. Sorry for any inconvenience caused,” he wrote.

The gesture highlights Jimmy B’s commitment to fostering unity within the entertainment industry during this solemn period.

As tributes continue to pour in for Steady Bongo, a beloved figure in Sierra Leone’s music scene, the call for collaboration and respect remains paramount.

Steady Bongo’s passing has left a void in the hearts of fans and colleagues alike, with preparations underway to honor his legacy and contributions to Sierra Leonean music.
