The family of the late Lansana Sheriff, popularly known as Steady Bongo, has released official funeral arrangements for the renowned musician and cultural icon.

Steady Bongo, who passed away on December 7, 2024, at the age of 58, will be laid to rest on December 23, 2024, in his hometown of Bombohun, Jawe Chiefdom, Kailahun District.

A civic laying-out ceremony and book of condolence signing will be held on Friday, December 20, 2024, at the New City Hall Auditorium in Freetown.

On Sunday, December 22, 2024, his remains will be transported from Freetown to Daru, Jawe Chiefdom, with stops in several towns along the way. A vigil will be held that evening in both Daru and Bombohun.

The family has extended their condolences to all who knew and loved Steady Bongo, expressing their gratitude for the outpouring of support.

It is with deep heart that the family officially announce the death of the late Mr Lansana Sheriff, commonly known as Steady Bongo, which sad event took place on Saturday, the 7th December, 2024.

Age 58 years.

He survived by his wife- Mrs Fatmata Jarai Sheriff.
Children: Kemoh Lansana Sheriff, Maada Lansana Sheriff, Haja Watta Lansana Sheriff, Mariama Lansana Sheriff and Salim Lansana Sheriff.
Daughter in-law: Mrs Nimata Salaam Sheriff
Elder Brother: Dr Lansana Nyalley and several brothers, sisters, aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, friends, The Cultural Heroes, Unique Ambassadors, Fellow musicians, Sierra Leone Police, Military Forces, the people of Bombohun, Daru and Jawe communities in Sierra Leone and abroad.

A Civic Laying- out ceremony and signing of the book of condolence will take place on Friday 20th, December, 2024 at the New City Hall Auditorium, Freetown at 11:00am.

His remains will be conveyed from Freetown on Sunday 22nd December, 2024 at 7:00am to Daru, Jawe Chiefdom, Kailahun District with the following stopovers; Masiaka, Mile 91, Moyamba Junction, Tiama, Bo, Kenema and Segbwema.

There’ll be a vigil on the 22nd December, 2024 at 8:30 pm in Daru and Bombohun Towns, Jawe Chiefdom, Kailahun District, respectively.

He’ll be laid to rest on the 23rd of December, 2024 at 1:30 pm, in Bombohun, Jawe Chiefdom, Kailahun District.
