Sierra Leonean hitmaker The Therapist has explained in a social media video why he was unable to attend and perform at the Afro Nation Festival in Portugal, despite receiving an invitation from the organisers.
The Therapist opened up about experiencing emotional stress and anxiety after doing everything possible to travel for the Afro Nation Festival but was unable to attend due to visa issues.
He revealed that he traveled to three different countries in an attempt to obtain a visa, as there is no Portuguese consulate in Sierra Leone. Unfortunately, these efforts were unsuccessful, resulting in wasted time, energy, and resources.
He also stated that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs tried to contact the Embassy of Portugal, but received no response.
Encouraging himself, The Therapist said that missing the event was simply “not meant to be” and expressed optimism, adding that there will always be a next time.
The Therapist would have been the first Sierra Leonean musician to perform at Afro Nation Festival in Portugal one of the world’s largest music festivals, attracting over 40,000 attendees.
