On Thursday, November 9, 2023, Hon. Dixon Momoh Rogers, the Current Chief Whip of the government bench in Parliament and Chief Executive Officer of Mamasa Hospital, unveiled a new chapter in healthcare by officially opening a branch of Mamasa Hospital in central Freetown.

This visionary move aligns with his commitment to alleviate the suffering of pregnancy and lactating mothers, in harmony with President Bio’s human capital development agenda in the health sector.

The hospital’s headquarters, established over two years ago in Bo, reflects Hon. Dixon Rogers’ dedication to providing comprehensive healthcare services. The Freetown branch celebrated its inauguration with the birth of a baby boy, whose namesake honors the CEO of the hospital.

Hon. Dixon Rogers, acknowledging the contributions of Parliament members, family, and doctors, shared that his inspiration came from the President’s emphasis on healthcare during the last State Opening of Parliament. He emphasized that being a politician is about giving back to society and expressed remorse for his late parents who couldn’t witness this accomplishment.

Highlighting the private ownership of Mamasa Hospital, Hon. Dixon Rogers expressed hope for support from the government and partners. Prof. Alpha Wurie, Presidential Adviser on Human Capital Development, commended the CEO’s selflessness, noting that Hon. Dixon’s focus on public service, rather than personal luxuries, is commendable.

Dr. Isata Golfa, a doctor at the hospital, explained that Mamasa Hospital’s maternity home in the residential area prioritizes expectant mothers’ well-being during and after pregnancy. Hon. Veronica Kadie Sesay praised the initiative, emphasizing that health is wealth and acknowledging the collaborative effort between Hon. Dixon Rogers, his wife, and the government. The event concluded with the official opening of Mamasa Hospital, marking a significant stride towards enhancing healthcare in Sierra Leone.
