The Ministry of Health has confirmed new one hundred and forty (140) Mpox cases, resulting to a vast increase of one thousand eight hundred and fifteen (1,815) confirmed cases nationwide, with only seven (7) new recoveries, and eleven (11) deaths since it broke out.
The official statement confirmed an increase of three hundred and seventy one (371) recoveries since the infectious disease broke out. Currently, the active cases have increased from one thousand three hundred (1,300) to one thousand four hundred and thirty three (1,433).
The Ministry, in shedding light on the cases as confirmed in various districts across the country, formalized that the Western Rural currently hosts an increase of Three Hundred and Seventy Seven (377) cases, and an increase of one thousand Two Hundred (1,200) cases in the Western Urban, cumulating the cases in the Western Area to one thousand five hundred and seventy-seven (1,577).
The official report further confirmed that all the districts across the country has recorded case/s of Mpox, with Bo City currently hosting a total number of nineteen (19) confirmed cases, and an increase of seventy-six (76) cases in Bombali. Twenty-eight (28) cases in Kanema, four (4) in Karene, thirty-eight (38) in Port Loko, eleven (11) in Tonkilili, with an increase of six (6) in Kambia, and Four (4) in Karene, Four (4) in Pujehun, and Twenty (23) in Kono District.
The report further confirmed that Bonthe hosts Seven (7) confirmed cases since yesterday; Two (2) confirmed case in Falaba, Six (6) cases in Kailahun, and and increase of Twelve (12) confirmed cases in Koinadugu. However, as confirmed in the recent report made by the Ministry, the Western Area has experienced a vast increase in new cases as the new record confirms one hundred and eight (108) new cases for the Western Area, and thirty-two (32) new cases for the provincial areas.
With an overall increase of one thousand eight hundred and fifteen (1,815) cases confirmed, according to the Ministry, nine hundred and sixty-nine (969) are male, while eight hundred and forty-six (846) are female.
The report, which was made on Thursday, 10th May, 2025, admonished the public to call on the free toll number 177 for emergency reports on any MPOX case or cases.
