The Directorate of Hospital and Ambulance Services has officially inaugurated the country’s first National Hospital Technical Working Group (TWG), a major step toward strengthening hospital governance, policy coordination, and healthcare service delivery across Sierra Leone.
The TWG brings together senior Ministry of Health officials, medical superintendents, hospital administrators, and representatives from professional and development partner bodies. Its mandate is to provide strategic guidance, develop national standards, and coordinate hospital reforms aimed at improving efficiency, quality, and access to healthcare services.
The Ministry of Health says the initiative aligns with Minister Dr. Austin Demby’s vision of achieving Universal Health Coverage (UHC), placing patients at the center of healthcare delivery.
