The Deputy Commissioner of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC), Augustine Foday Ngobie, on November 7, 2024, warmly received members of the Past Present Women Police Association (PPWPA) during their visit to the Integrity House in Tower Hill, Freetown.

The delegation, led by retired Chief Superintendent of Police Aiesha Bangura, sought to demonstrate their support for the ACC’s mission to fight corruption and discuss potential collaboration.

Speaking on behalf of the Association, Mrs. Bangura emphasized the pivotal role police officers play in upholding accountability and integrity, values they upheld throughout their careers.

She expressed admiration for Deputy Commissioner Ngobie’s distinguished service both during his time in the Sierra Leone Police and in his current role at the ACC.

“Our skills remain sharp, and we are eager to contribute to this noble cause,” she affirmed, highlighting the members’ vast experience in intelligence and investigative work, which they offered as valuable assets in the ongoing fight against corruption.

Elizabeth Turay, Chief Adviser of the PPWPA and a former Deputy Inspector General of Police, reiterated the importance of the experience the Association’s members bring to the table.

“We have witnessed the destructive impact of corruption and are committed to helping combat it,” she stated, emphasizing their readiness to assist the Commission with their accumulated knowledge and expertise.

In response, Deputy Commissioner Ngobie expressed his deep appreciation for their show of support. Reflecting on his own career, he shared fond memories of his time in the Police Force, noting how his experiences there laid the foundation for his work at the ACC.

“Some of my most rewarding years were in the Police Force,” he remarked, while acknowledging the critical role his background played in shaping his contributions to the ACC’s mission.

Mr. Ngobie assured the visiting delegation that their offers of assistance would be conveyed to the Commissioner, Francis Ben Kaifala Esq., and expressed optimism about exploring avenues for collaboration. He also made a personal donation to the Association, which was warmly received by the retired officers.

The visit concluded with prayers for the continued success of the ACC and its leadership, symbolizing the shared commitment of both parties in advancing integrity and combating corruption in Sierra Leone.
