Yvonne Aki-Sawyerr, Mayor of Freetown, has met with the newly appointed Chief Executive Officer of Orange Sierra Leone, Aïcha Touré, to discuss ways to reinforce the long-standing collaboration between the Freetown City Council (FCC) and Orange.

The meeting, held at the Mayor’s office, also served as a formal introduction for Touré, who recently assumed leadership of Orange Sierra Leone.

The FCC and Orange have a history of partnership focused on bridging social and digital divides within the capital. Among the initiatives highlighted during the meeting was the donation of digital school kits to the Kroo Bay Municipal School, which included tablets, laptops, and projectors to support underserved students.

The partnership has also extended to public health and sanitation drives across Freetown.

“We discussed ways to strengthen these existing ties and explore new avenues for deeper collaboration,” Mayor Aki-Sawyerr said following the meeting.

Discussions between the two leaders indicate a future focus on expanding digital literacy and improving infrastructure to further support communities in the city.
