Police Constable 18194 Alfred Musa Kanu, a serving officer in the Sierra Leone Police, is currently battling severe injuries sustained while on duty.

Despite repeated attempts to receive the recommended medical treatment, Kanu continues to suffer without proper intervention from the authorities.

His worsening condition has raised concerns over the delay in action by the police department.

According to sources close to Kanu, the officer was injured during the course of his duties and immediately reported the incident to his supervisors at the Sierra Leone Police Headquarters in Freetown. Due to the severity of his injuries, he was referred to the Ministry of Health, which then directed him to a specialist for further evaluation.

Following an extensive examination, the specialist determined that Kanu’s injuries required advanced medical treatment unavailable in Sierra Leone. The recommendation was for Kanu to be flown abroad, specifically to India, where more specialized care could be provided. The Ministry of Health reportedly facilitated all necessary paperwork and passed the case back to the Sierra Leone Police, his parent institution, for immediate action.

However, despite the urgency of the situation and the formal recommendation from health authorities, the Sierra Leone Police have yet to take action. More than a month has passed since the case was referred to the police for further arrangements, and Kanu’s condition has deteriorated. He now finds it increasingly difficult to perform his duties as his pain worsens.

Efforts to contact the police department for comment on the delay have been unsuccessful, with responses from officials either uncooperative or nonexistent. Kanu has granted permission for his documents and photographs to be shared publicly in an effort to raise awareness and seek resolution.

As Kanu’s health continues to decline, the lack of response from the police has sparked frustration among those concerned about the officer’s well-being. The officer, who remains committed to his service, is appealing for immediate assistance to address his medical needs before his condition becomes irreversible.

This public appeal aims to bring attention to his dire situation in the hope that the Sierra Leone Police and relevant authorities will take swift action to ensure he receives the necessary treatment abroad.
