Mr. Alie, one of the remaining cast members of the popular Mama Sala movie series, has spoken out to the media to address what he described as “false and hurtful stories” circulating about the late Sierra Leonean music icon, Steady Bongo, and the Mama Sala cast.

In an emotional statement, Mr. Alie said he wanted to set the record straight about widespread rumors linking witchcraft and secret oaths to the deaths of former cast members.

“Every day people are talking about witchcraft and the late man Steady Bongo. People are telling a lot of lies,” he said. “Mama Sala died about 15 to 18 years ago, and Mama Musu passed five years later-long before Steady Bongo’s death on December 7th, 2024.”

He added that the cast continues to mourn the loss of their colleagues, including Sonita, Sward Dombolo, and Lapito, all of whom were part of the same production.

“There’s water in our eyes. We are still in pain, yet people are rejoicing over our loss. After Sonita’s death, we also lost Sward Dombolo and Lapito. People are now building fake stories about how Steady Bongo took an oath. These are all lies,” he emphasized.

According to Mr. Alie, the late Steady Bongo was a devout Muslim who never believed in fetish practices.

“That man did not believe in any fetish business. He believed in Almighty Allah. These things people are saying will lead them to hell,” he warned.

Mr. Alie also addressed growing concerns from fans who worry that he might be the next to die, given that he is among the last surviving members of the Mama Sala set.

“People are saying I’m the only one left, and they are worried for me. Let them be worried, but I am not afraid of death. When death knocks, no one can refuse to answer. That’s why I worship Allah and pray that untimely death does not meet us,” he said.

Clarifying recent rumors that linked him to mysterious deaths, he stated firmly that neither he nor the late Steady Bongo ever took any oath.

“We are not under any oath. The late Steady Bongo did not take an oath. May his soul rest in peace. I know he is with God now,” Mr. Alie affirmed.

He explained that he decided to appear on social media to dispel the growing misinformation and to assure the public that he is alive and well.

“I’m here to clear things up so that people will know the truth. All those stories being spread are lies. It was God’s will that Steady Bongo died before others. Sonita was sick even before his accident, but God spared her life for some time. It was Steady Bongo who left the world first,” he concluded, pleading with the public to stop spreading falsehoods about matters they do not understand.
