Foday Sheriff, a 24-year-old barber, has been remanded at the Male Correctional Centre after facing serious charges in the Pademba Road Court No. 2.
Magistrate John Manso Fornah presided over the case, which includes four counts: Causing Grievous Bodily Harm, Wounding with Intent, and Assault Occasioning Actual Bodily Harm.
The charges, brought under Sections 18, 20, and 47 of the Offences Against the Person Act of 1861, stem from an incident that allegedly occurred on April 23, 2025, at No. 57 Lumley Road, Wilberforce, in the Western Area of Freetown. Sheriff is accused of intentionally causing grievous bodily harm to Ibrahim Sorie Kamara.
During the court proceedings, the accused did not enter a plea when the charges were read and explained. The prosecution, led by Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Barber Musa, presented evidence including testimony from Detective Inspector Alusine Edward Conteh of the Congo Cross Police Station. Inspector Conteh reported that Kamara filed a complaint of grievous bodily harm on April 24, 2025, which led to an investigation.
Conteh issued a medical request form for Kamara, who later returned with a completed form and an X-ray report, both submitted as Exhibit A1-3. The prosecution also introduced witness statements from Mamisa Sheriff and Mariama Sheriff, marked as Exhibits B1-7, C1-6, and D1-4.
Further developments occurred on May 2 and May 4, 2025, when Conteh and Detective Sergeant 9520 Koroma A. obtained a voluntary caution statement from Sheriff, recorded in Krio and translated into English.
The accused confirmed the accuracy of the statement by affixing his thumbprint, which was witnessed by Sgt. Koroma. The statement was submitted as Exhibit E1-11. On May 4, 2025, Sheriff was officially charged and again confirmed the charges by thumbprint, with the charge statement admitted as Exhibit F 1-3.
In the hearing, defense counsel L.S. Juldeh requested bail, arguing that Sheriff is a permanent resident with a stable address and reliable sureties. Juldeh cited Section 79(2) of the Criminal Procedure Act of 1965, assuring the court that the accused would not pose a flight risk or interfere with witnesses.
Magistrate Fornah however denied the bail application, emphasizing the serious nature of the charges against Sheriff. He ordered that the accused remain in custody, with the trial adjourned to June 26, 2025, for further proceedings.

How I wish the guy is a certified professional Barber. His defense lawyer must have challenged the allegations leveled against the accused person. That’s technical failure. Just like a driver with license eventually hits someone, that’s mechanical failure.
