Over the weekend On Saturday, October 11th, 2024, the Center for Advocacy and Grassroot Development (CADG), held a significant event at the Government Secondary School in Moyamba Junction Fakunya Chiefdom, Moyamba District.

The program, sponsored by two non-governmental organizations, SLADAE and Bread For The World, focused on addressing the issue of kush addiction among youths. Rugiatu Sannoh, the program coordinator, highlighted the harmful effects of kush, which included sleepiness, swollen feet, stealing, madness and even death to some extent. She strongly advised the attendees to deviate from this destructive habit.

In a show of solidarity and support, various groups including bike riders, drivers union, Bright Stars Comedians, and the Sierra Leone Police (SLP) participated in a parade around town to raise awareness about the dangers of kush addiction and to encourage positive behavioral change among the youth.
Ibrahim B. Mansaray alias Shenge Boy, one of the addicts thanked the organization for the support and also pointed out that the central government together with nongovernmental organizations to help remedy drug trafficking and traffickers into the country. He concluded with a slogan that goes “Say No To Kush.
The event was climaxed with disbursement of minimum amounts to all attendees by the project officer Peter Thomas.

 

This event marked a significant step towards combating substance abuse and promoting healthier lifestyles in the community.
