A 40-foot container crashed off the Congo Cross Bridge on Tuesday morning, causing concern among road users and residents in the area.

The container, which appeared to be carrying blue barrels containing unspecified items, reportedly fell off the bridge on the busy highway linking central Freetown to the western parts of the city.

The impact forced open the container’s doors, exposing part of its contents.

No casualties have been reported as of the time of filing this report. However, the accident is expected to disrupt traffic flow along the route, which is one of the main corridors connecting central Freetown and the west.
