Charged yesterday for insulting the president, the matter initially adjourned to May 3 was called up this morning
Sixteen (16) lawyers in all represented the 1st accused Mohamed Mansaray alias Blacker whilst Boyzie Kamara and three others represented the 2nd defendant Kadiatu Yankaday Kamara.
Fritong Post reports that the lead counsel for the 1st defendant, C. Pujeh Esq. canvassed the bench to grant the accused bail on his own recognisance (the release of a pretrial detainee without costs but with the promise or written consent of the person to appear in court for hearing).
Pujeh said that people may not be willing to stand as sureties for Blacker for fear that he might skip bail or awol. He also submitted that the defendant might be an insane person therefore people would not risk standing as sureties for him.
Counsel for the 2nd defendant also backed lawyer Pujeh’s application whilst canvassing the magistrate to grant bail to Kadiatu Kamara.
The 1st defendant Blacker also told the court that he would not skip bail provided he is duly notified at anytime he is supposed to appear in court.
Magistrate Jalloh then handed Blacker to Counsel Pujeh, and granted Le3m ($260) bail bond to the 2nd defendant. The matter was adjourned to May 9 for hearing.
