The Sierra Leone DJs Union (SLeDU) and its National Advisory Council have officially announced their disassociation from the “One Industry Say No To Kush” Campaign Project, citing misleading claims and lack of proper collaboration from the project organizers.
In a press release dated October 19, 2025, the Union stated that it was made aware of false information suggesting its affiliation with the “One Industry Say No To Kush” Campaign, organized under a project called One Industry.
According to SLeDU, these claims were based on a letter of invitation dated October 9, 2025, which falsely implied that the DJs Union was part of the campaign.
“The Sierra Leone DJs Union is a prime partner and a distinct entity that should be part and parcel of the planning and implementation of all projects and programs in the entertainment industry of Sierra Leone,” the statement reads. “We do not endorse or support the One Industry Music Project in any way because the organizers failed to include us in the initial stage of planning and implementation.”
The Union also highlighted that despite sending official invitations to several notable musicians and organizers of the One Industry project to participate in its Entertainment Health Walk held on October 18, 2025, in Freetown, they chose to boycott the event without prior notification.
SLeDU reaffirmed its strong commitment to the ongoing national campaign against Kush and expressed its willingness to collaborate with credible groups and institutions working toward the same cause.
“We urge the public and the DJs community to be aware of these misleading claims and to verify any information before supporting or participating in any activity on behalf of the Sierra Leone DJs Union,” the Union emphasized.
The Sierra Leone DJs Union, headquartered at 73 Siaka Stevens Street in Freetown, serves as an umbrella body for all DJ practitioners across the country, dedicated to promoting creativity, talent, and professionalism within the entertainment industry.
