Marian Samura, a breast-feeding mother has been sentenced to two years imprisonment by the High Court in Port Loko.

She was found guilty of three counts: wounding with intent, wounding, and domestic violence.

The incident occurred on April 21, 2023, in Ahinga Section, Rogbere Junction Maforki Chiefdom. Samura was accused of intentionally wounding and physically abusing a domestic partner, Isatu Koroma.

During the trial, the defense pleaded for leniency, citing Samura’s status as a Sierra Leonean, a lactating mother, and her remorse for the actions. They also requested financial compensation instead of imprisonment.

However, the state argued for a ten-year sentence, emphasizing the need to send a strong message to society.
