The Principal of Dorwailai Comprehensive Secondary School in Kenema, Mrs. Margaret Amara, popularly known among students as “Mummy Amara,” has officially resigned from her position following a disagreement with the school’s proprietor.
Mrs. Amara, who served as principal from 2021 to 2025, announced her resignation during an interview with Bawoh Online TV. She said the decision was not made willingly but was forced by what she described as a serious misunderstanding between herself and the proprietor of the school.
According to Mrs. Amara, the proprietor failed to properly understand her position and concerns regarding the management of the school. She further alleged that her salary for the month of December has been seized and remains unpaid.
“This is not something I ever wished for,” Mrs. Amara told Bawoh Online TV, explaining that she chose to step down to protect her peace of mind and avoid further conflict.
During her tenure, Mrs. Amara was widely recognized for her dedication and efforts toward the development of Dorwailai Comprehensive Secondary School. Many students and staff members came to know her as “Mummy Amara,” a name reflecting her close relationship with the school community.
At present, it is unclear whether Mrs. Amara will return to the school in any capacity. She has not made a definite decision about her future involvement.
