A 32-year-old driver, Ibrahim Jalloh, has been sentenced to five years in prison after being found guilty of larceny by Magistrate Mustapha Braima Jah at Pademba Road Court No. 1 in Freetown.
The conviction relates to an incident in December 2024 at Furniture, Allen Town, where Jalloh stole a total of Le 35,400 (approximately $1,400 USD) from a Ford Escape Jeep with registration number ANY 386. The stolen amount included $1,400 USD and Le 1,800 in local currency, belonging to Ishmail Kamel Zayat.
During the trial, Magistrate Jah highlighted that the conviction was based on Jalloh’s voluntary statement to police, which directly implicated him in the crime. Prosecutor Sergeant 9939 Mohamed Lahai noted that Jalloh was not a first-time offender, having been recently released from the Pademba Road Correctional Centre before committing the offense.
Despite Jalloh’s plea for leniency, Magistrate Jah ordered that he serve a five-year sentence at the Male Correctional Facility in Freetown.
