The Electricity Distribution and Supply Authority (EDSA) has provided an update on the major fault that caused recent power interruptions at various stations in Freetown. This update is part of EDSA’s efforts to keep customers informed about its work to address the country’s electricity crisis.

The report outlined specific power stations that were interrupted, thus stating the expected dates on which the faults will be restored at the different stations. EDSA commented that they are currently working on restoring the faults, asserting that Bo and Kenema will experience a power outage from 9:00 a.m to 7:00 p.m due to the 33kv work between Kenema and Bo.

In their report, it is confirmed that the Savage Square LV Panel is in deplorable state, stating that the fault will be restored not later than Saturday, 5th April, 2025. It also confirmed that the fault at the SMYTHE STREET PMT is caused by the frequent dripping on the main LV Circuit Breaker, admitting that the fault will be restored, “not later than 3rd April 2025.”

At CALTON CAREW 2 Substation, the report asserted that one stripped LV Feeder is the cause of the frequent tripping in the main LV circuit breaker, thus altering the electricity connection, posing that the fault will be restored not later than Thursday, 3rd April, 2025.

In continuation, the fault at the ROPORTI Substation is caused by the reoccurrence of burnt cable and cable lug, affirming that it will be fixed not later than Friday, 4th April, 2025. It continued that the fault at the ROKUPA Substation is also as a result of the reoccurrence of burnt cable from the panel, assuring that the problem will be restored not later than Friday, 4th April, 2025.

At the LUMLEY HEALTH CENTRE Substation, it stated that the fault was as a result of a Blown MV Fuse, thus assuring that it will be fixed, “not later than 3rd April, 2025.” At Bendu’s Drive by Atlantic Package, is revealed that the fault is as a result of Cut LV Wire, assuring that it will be restored, “not later than 3rd April, 2025.”

In the conclusion of the report, the Electricity Distribution and Supply Authority has suspected the BENGUEMA MILITARY BARRACKS Transformer to be faulty, noting that further investigation is required. In relations to that, they assured that the fault will be fixed in not later than Thursday, 3rd April, 2025.
