The U.S. Embassy in Sierra Leone has suspended the issuance of nonimmigrant visas for Sierra Leonean nationals, following a recent proclamation visa ban and restrictions made by President Donald J. Trump.
The official steps taken by the US Embassy affects categories B, F, M, and J, which include tourist, business, student, and exchange visitor visas.
The embassy clarified that only immigrant visas for immediate family members of U.S. citizens will continue to be processed. Those include visas for spouses (IR-1/CR-1), children (IR-2/CR-2), and parents (IR-5), as well as adoption-related visas (IR-3, IR-4, IH-3, IH-4).
The embassy stated that existing visas remain valid. Sierra Leoneans holding valid visas can still travel to the United States and apply for entry at immigration checkpoints, provided they comply with the terms of their visas.
Travelers are urged to use their visas lawfully to avoid penalties or deportation due to overstays. The U.S. Embassy encourages all visa holders to stay informed and adhere to U.S. immigration regulations.
as a 2025 DV selectee/winner, will I be allowed to transfer my case to another country and have a chance to get a visa due to the ban?
Why must you go to US in the first place? America is not a safe country.
Regardless of the world influence, I had I been the president of Sierra Leone I would have immediately imposed a ban on all USA citizen, so that the impact could be felt on both ends and our minerals would have been safe,
Other countries are separate from the US , why would your visa be transferable,? It is a new and different process for each country
When it comes to America, APC owners are the most puppets to leak their ass, then followed by SLPP. We are in the Western world and knew now very well how they behave to black people. SLPP and APC should join together and deport all Americans, British and Franch out. Nationalize all our minerals. All foreign miners should leave Sierra Leone. I wish I will be the president of Sierra Leone. I will close American embassy in Sierra Leone. I mean it. We have to hold the bull by the horn. God bless Sierra Leone. Thanks.
