The Office of National Security (ONS) convened a consultative meeting on responsible creativity, with notable figures such as Entertainment Ambassador Kao Denero in attendance.
The meeting, held under the theme “Responsible Creativity,” focused on establishing a structured regulatory framework for the entertainment industry.
According to the Entertainment Ambassador, key points of discussion included the introduction of stricter monitoring of stage performances to curb the use of vulgar language. He also mentioned that the ONS, alongside the entertainment office and the Sierra Leone Police, will oversee the approval process for all events, ensuring they meet the new standards.
The Ambassador also mentioned that there are plans to implement mandatory registration for all entertainers, a step intended to formalize and professionalize the sector. This new regulatory approach is set to take effect in 2025.
He wrote:
“This afternoon, a consultative meeting was called upon by the ONS office with the theme responsible creativity. Regulations and how we can place a complete structure on the entertainment industry was the vital point of discussion. This year, 2025, brace up. All stage performances will be monitored for vulgar language, and all entertainers will soon be registered, plus all events will need to be approved by the ONS, the entertainment office, and the Sierra Leone Police. Ya we go straight ya.”
Kao Denero, a prominent voice in the industry, expressed support for the initiative, urging entertainers to prepare for the changes. “Brace up,” he wrote.
