Epic Radio 99.3 FM has issued a public clarification and apology following a controversial social media post concerning a court ruling in Freetown.

The radio station explained that a post published on Tuesday, March 10, reported that a 24-year-old woman had been sentenced to 11 months in prison by the High Court in Freetown for eating food without paying. However, the station later acknowledged that the wording of the post did not accurately reflect the full context of the case before the court.

According to the statement, concerns were raised by Al‑Fisher Investment Limited, prompting the media outlet to review the publication. Following the review, the post was removed from the station’s social media platforms.

In its notice, Epic Radio expressed regret for any confusion the report may have caused to the court, the parties involved in the case, members of the legal community, and the general public.

The station emphasized its commitment to responsible journalism, noting that it values constructive feedback and continues to strengthen its editorial processes to ensure accurate and balanced reporting.

Management of Epic Radio 99.3 FM also extended what it described as a “sincere and unreserved apology” to all individuals affected by the publication, reaffirming the station’s dedication to serving the public interest with integrity and professionalism.
