Devastating road accident has claimed the lives of five members of the same family following a fatal collision along the Makeni–Kamakwe highway on Sunday evening.

The incident, which occurred at approximately 7:00 p.m. on April 5, 2026, involved a truck transporting Afrigas stoves and a jeep. According to initial reports, the vehicles collided under circumstances that are yet to be fully established.

Tragically, all five occupants of the jeep lost their lives in the crash. Among the deceased were a mother and her two 9-month-old twin infants, making the incident particularly heartbreaking.

Eyewitnesses at the scene described the collision as severe, with both vehicles sustaining significant damage. Emergency responders and bystanders reportedly rushed to the scene, but the victims were pronounced dead shortly after.

Authorities are expected to launch a full investigation to determine the cause of the accident, including whether factors such as speeding, poor visibility, or mechanical failure may have contributed to the crash.

This latest tragedy adds to growing concerns over road safety along major highways in the country, particularly during evening hours.
