Five people including two males and three females were arrested and detained by the police during the early hours of Tuesday 2nd April, 2024.

According to the Operation Officer at the Kailahun police Division Junior Abubakar Abdualai, the five criminals presented themselves at the British Gas station to be holy and observing fasting since it is Ramadan. They requested to buy fuel of 500 liters, but they only had foreign currency (United States Dollars) at that moment.

They lured the manager of British Gas station Hema Kaikai to go into backing for the change of the dollars to Leones. After collecting the sum of NLe40,100 from the manager, they finally presented the fake dollars to him.

The manager of the Gas station Hema Kaikai later find out that the dollars were fake, he immediately alarmed and contacted the police for prompt intervention.

The suspected criminals had a blue car with the registration number AUE737 immediately on board the car and left for Kenema. “After the manager informed me I in turn instructed the police at Pendembu to mount checkpoint for proper checking, and we finally captured them “the Operation Officer confirmed.
