Five individuals are scheduled to appear before the High Court of Sierra Leone following their committal by Magistrate Santigie Bangura over their involvement in a significant theft case.

The case, involving the theft of $85,000 USD, was transferred to the High Court after Prosecutor Yusuf Isaac Sesay concluded the prosecution’s presentation of evidence and witnesses.

The accused, Doreen Yavana Sonnielly, James Fayia Foyah, James Brima Foyah (also known as Jimmy), Yatta Jusu, and Mammy Momoh (alias Grace)—face multiple serious charges. These include conspiracy to commit a felony, housebreaking, larceny, and being an accessory after the fact. The allegations suggest that the defendants conspired to break into the home of Priscilla Jusu Sesay, a retired nurse, between August 1, 2023, and March 6, 2024. During this time, they are accused of stealing a substantial sum of money, which also belonged to Massah Lovetta Karimu and Bishop Lucy Anthony.

Furthermore, the defendants are charged with aiding and abetting their co-accused by providing assistance to evade justice. Magistrate Bangura has granted bail to Mammy Momoh, while bail requests for the other four accused have been denied.

The High Court is now set to handle the next stages of the trial, with further proceedings anticipated to delve into the details of this high-profile case.
