Four young men, Samuel Taylor, Sunday Seiyah, Kinney Sevalie, and Francis Kallayare are in police custody in Moyamba District following allegations of raping an 18-year-old woman, Mbalù Thullah.

The incident reportedly occurred on the morning of August 16, 2024, between the hours of 2 and 3 AM in Waima Village, Kori Chiefdom.

According to Kawa, the officer in charge of the Family Support Unit (FSU) at Taiama Police Station, the accused traveled to Waima Village from Kolayhun Village to attend a local vigil. At approximately 2 AM, they allegedly noticed Mbalù Thullah, who appeared to be intoxicated, and followed her to her residence, where the assault is said to have taken place.

The local community responded quickly to the incident. Residents apprehended the four men on the morning of the alleged assault and took them to Taiama Police Station, where they were arrested.

The case has now been referred to the Moyamba District Police Division for further investigation. Authorities are working diligently to ensure a thorough inquiry into the allegations, emphasizing the need for justice for the victim and the safety of the community.
