In a concerted effort to bolster peace initiatives in Sierra Leone, the Independent Commission for Peace and National Cohesion (ICPNC), with support from UN Women, orchestrated a pivotal engagement on Thursday, 18th April 2024.

Held at the Pujehun District Council Hall along Jah Street in Pujehun Town, the event marked a significant milestone in fostering unity and harmony within the region.

Led by Adikali Sheku Kamara, the Deputy Director for Recharge and Learning at ICPNC, the gathering brought together a diverse array of Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) from Pujehun District. The primary objective is to revitalize the Civil Society Coalition for Peace, breathing new life into collective efforts aimed at promoting stability and prosperity.

During the training session, which targeted 20 CSOs within the Pujehun District, participants were equipped with the tools and knowledge necessary to establish and sustain the peace coalition. Through collaborative endeavors and shared visions, the coalition members were encouraged to forge ahead, working tirelessly for the betterment of their community.

Mr. Kamara emphasized the paramount importance of unity and cooperation among coalition members, stressing the need to prioritize the district’s best interests above all else.
His impassioned call to action resonated throughout the hall, igniting a sense of purpose and determination among attendees.

Among the voices of gratitude was Madam Baby Sellu from Women Of Wanjama, who expressed heartfelt appreciation to ICPNC for their invaluable training and support. She pledged unwavering commitment from her organization, affirming their dedication to collaborating within the coalition for the greater good of the district.

As the curtains closed on the day’s proceedings, optimism radiated throughout the hall, signaling a new chapter in the journey towards lasting peace and national cohesion in Sierra Leone. With renewed vigor and fortified alliances, the reactivated Civil Society Coalition for Peace stands poised to make profound strides in shaping a brighter future for all.
