On Thursday, 7th November 2024, Police Inspector Rugiatu Sesay testified before Magistrate Santigie Bangura in Freetown regarding the murder trial of Mousa Sewa, accused of killing Massah Massaquoi near the Qcell pole in Makeni on 18th August 2024.

Inspector Sesay, from the CID’s Homicide Unit, outlined her investigation, which began on 23rd August 2024.

She provided key evidence, including statements from witnesses and the complainant, and detailed her team’s visit to the 34 Military Hospital on 24th August for the identification of the body and subsequent postmortem examination.

The postmortem report, conducted by Dr. Owizz Koroma, was submitted as evidence.

Further investigation included a visit to the crime scene on 7th September 2024 and interviews with the accused on 6th and 12th September. Sewa’s statements were confirmed as accurate and presented as evidence in court.

On 8th and 9th October 2024, the accused was formally charged with murder, and the charge statement was filed as evidence.

The defense requested a delay for cross-examination, but Magistrate Bangura denied bail, ordering Sewa’s remand at the Male Correctional Facility in Freetown. The case is adjourned to 11th November 2024.
