The Kambia Police Division today conducted a symbolic burning of a substantial quantity of dried green leaves suspected to be KUSH and Cannabis Sativa.

The ceremony, held at the Kambia Police Divisional Headquarters, marked the culmination of weeks of rigorous operations aimed at curbing drug-related activities in the district.

Led by the Local Unit Commander, Chief Superintendent of Police Murana Eric Kamara, the event was attended by a cross-section of stakeholders, including military personnel, journalists, civil society representatives, traditional leaders, and other law enforcement officials.

The collaborative presence underscored the district’s unified stance against the proliferation of harmful substances.

Chief Superintendent Kamara highlighted the importance of the operation, describing it as a clear message to perpetrators of illegal drug trade and use.

“This exercise demonstrates our unwavering commitment to protecting our community from the dangers of drug abuse,” he stated.

The operation, which involved heightened surveillance, targeted raids, and community patrols, led to the seizure of significant quantities of the illegal substances.

While addressing the gathering, local stakeholders commended the Kambia Police Division for its proactive measures and pledged continued cooperation in the fight against drugs.

“We must strengthen information sharing and community policing to eradicate the sale and use of harmful drugs in Kambia,” said one of the traditional leaders in attendance.

The burning of the illicit substances symbolizes the resolve of law enforcement agencies to maintain a drug-free society and protect the well-being of the community.

The initiative also serves as a warning to individuals involved in the drug trade, reaffirming the police’s dedication to upholding the law.
