Popular entertainment journalist, Ibrahim Prezo Koroma has unveiled a foundation focusing at helping inmates at various correctional centres in the country.
The foundation is called Second Chance Foundation.
Making this known, Koroma made mention of the point that, “WE RISE BY LIFTING OTHERS!’’ This can be drawn from his experience gained at the correctional centre in Freetown recently.
He stated, “Today, I am pleased to officially unveil the Second Chance Foundation on behalf of all inmates at various correctional centres across the country.
This Foundation is principally established based on my experience in prison, which lasted for more than eight months while serving my time, and how displeasing it can be to any person who has been there and witnessed the suffering of the majority of the Inmates.
It is against this backdrop that I am enthusiastically reaching out to family members, friends, organizations, business entities, and stakeholders to solicit funds in a bid to address the various issues within the prison jurisdiction to the best of my knowledge.
This is mostly for inmates who have made their mistakes and offended the law and as such being led to prison. We all deserve second chances in our lives and we should not let the lives of these inmates perish. We should try very hard to rehabilitate and bring them back on a good trajectory and help them contribute to nation-building when they might have served their time.
The Second Chance Foundation is holistically focusing on the ills surrounding prisoners as the majority of similar organizations in Sierra Leone are paying little or no attention to prisoners as they are the most vulnerable Sierra Leoneans.
These are our objectives and we are looking forward to more inclusiveness from sponsors and partners to sail us through, thereby playing a part as patriotic citizens of our beloved Sierra Leone.
Everyone deserves a second chance in life!’’
