The Sierra Leone Local Content Agency and Sierra Rutile Limited on Tuesday signed a Local Content Plan Implementation Agreement at the Agency’s headquarters on Steward Street in Freetown.
The agreement is aimed at strengthening local participation in the operations of companies operating in Sierra Leone, particularly in areas such as procurement, employment, and knowledge transfer.
In his opening remarks, the Director General of the Sierra Leone Local Content Agency emphasized the importance of integrating Sierra Leoneans into the activities of companies across key sectors of the economy. He noted that stronger local participation would help ensure that companies operating in the country make meaningful contributions to national development.
Speaking on behalf of Sierra Rutile Limited, Madam Yillah provided a brief overview of the company’s history and its commitment to promoting local content. She stated that the company is wholly owned by a Sierra Leonean and that about 97 percent of its workforce across all levels are Sierra Leoneans, reflecting its dedication to empowering local talent.
The event concluded with the official signing of the Local Content Plan Implementation Agreement between the two institutions. Following the signing ceremony, a Certificate of Authorization was presented to Sierra Rutile Limited in recognition of its compliance with the country’s local content requirements.
