Alhaji Sheku, a 21-year-old miner from Deima Town in Kenema District, has been committed to the High Court by Magistrate Shaka P. Kamara for charges of store breaking and larceny, in violation of Section 26(1) of the Larceny Act of 1916.
According to the prosecution, on August 25, 2024, Sheku allegedly broke into the store of Abass Ayah Conteh in Deima Town, Kandu Leppiama Chiefdom, and stole various items.
The stolen goods included two gallons of petrol, an old shaker, two shovels, and a five-inch building machine, with a combined value of NLe 5,645.
Magistrate Kamara, after reviewing the evidence and testimony presented during the preliminary investigation, found sufficient grounds to commit Sheku to trial at the High Court.
No plea was taken, and the accused was remanded at the Sierra Leone Correctional Centre in Kenema pending his trial.
The case was prosecuted by Police Sergeant Bakarr Watta from the Legal and Justice Support Department at the Kenema Police Station.
