Residents of a community on the outskirts of the eastern region of Sierra Leone were left horrified after a man was apprehended for allegedly butchering a dog for commercial sale.

According to Mountain Online Television, the shocking discovery was made after locals reported suspicious activities and foul odors coming from the suspect’s residence.

Local authorities confirmed that they received multiple complaints from concerned community members who observed unusual nighttime movements and strange smells in the area. Upon investigating, police found the man in the act of preparing dog meat, with clear indications that it was intended for sale to unsuspecting consumers.

We noticed a foul smell and unusual movements at night,” said one resident who wished to remain anonymous. “That’s when we decided to alert the authorities. We never imagined someone would be selling dog meat in our community.”

According to initial police reports, the suspect is believed to have been operating the illegal meat business in secret for several weeks, disguising the dog meat as regular livestock products.

Eyewitnesses say the man used discreet methods to lure, kill, and butcher the animals without raising public suspicion.

The suspect was immediately taken into custody and is currently assisting police with their investigations. Authorities are also working to establish whether the man acted alone or is part of a broader network involved in illegal meat distribution across the region.
