On Thursday, August 22, 2024, Gassim, a resident of Mile 91, reportedly attacked Ibrahim Conteh, an employee of Miro Forestry, by pouring a liquid substance identified as acid onto his face.

The attack occurred in the evening and is believed to have been sparked by a dispute over a woman who also works at Miro Forestry.

According to Alieu Jalloh, who spoke to the News Journal Media, Ibrahim Conteh was immediately rushed to CHF Hospital in Mile 91 for medical treatment.

Dr. Noah, the medical superintendent at CHF Hospital, confirmed that Ibrahim’s condition is critical.

“The acid has severely damaged his eyes, turning them black. He requires urgent eye care,” Dr. Noah stated.

Dr. Noah has advised Ibrahim’s family to transfer him to an emergency hospital in Freetown for specialized treatment.

“If he is to survive, he must receive immediate attention; otherwise, he might gradually lose his sight,” Dr. Noah warned.

Sources indicate that Gassim is currently on hide, evading capture.

This incident is part of a troubling trend of violence related to disputes over women. Last week, an assistant lecturer in Freetown was reportedly killed his girlfriend, as confirmed by autopsy results. Additionally, in Kenema City, a violent altercation over a married woman resulted in the death of Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh.
