Twenty-six-year-old Abubakar Conteh, an unemployed man, appeared before Magistrate Santigie Bangura of the pademba Road Court No. 2 in Freetown, charged with larceny under section 2 of the Larceny Act 1916.

Conteh was accused of stealing a white Roch 12000 BTU air conditioner pipe valued at 15,525 Leones from the Law Court building on Siaka Stevens Street on July 28,2024. Conteh pleaded guilty to the charge.

Prosecutor Sergeant 9155 Dwight Macarthy and Associate Counsel A. Mansary confirmed there were no prior criminal records against him.

The Judiciary’s Deputy Assistant Registrar, Ibrahim Hindolo Katta, was present in court. Conteh, unrepresented by legal counsel requested leniency, citing his status as a first-time-offender and his cooperation in not wasting the court’s time.

Considering his plea for mercy, Magistrate Bangura sentenced Conteh to three years imprisonment at the Male Correctional Facility in Freetown.
