Abdul Tekeh Koroma, a 26-year-old man, was sentenced to three months in prison on Thursday, 19th June, 2025, after pleading guilty to fraudulent conversion, a violation of Section 20(1)(iv)(a) of the Larceny Act of 1916.
The court heard that between May 1st and May 31st, 2025, Koroma unlawfully converted a Tecno Spark 8 mobile phone valued at Le 1,500. The phone had been entrusted to him by Mbalu Fatima Mansaray for the purpose of unlocking.
During the proceedings, State Prosecutor 18235 Thoronka K informed the court that Koroma is a first-time offender. When the charges were read and explained to him, he promptly pleaded guilty.
Magistrate John Manso Fornah, in his ruling, acknowledged Koroma’s guilty plea and his request for leniency.
Taking these factors into account, the magistrate sentenced Koroma to three months in prison. Alternatively, he ordered that Koroma either return the mobile phone or pay the equivalent value of Le 1,500 to the complainant, Mansaray.
