Mile 91 Town is set to witness a historic moment with the official opening of its Magistrate Court on Tuesday, July 1, 2025. The ceremony will be presided over by the Chief Justice of Sierra Leone, Honourable Justice Komba Kamanda.

This development marks a significant milestone in the town’s history, providing residents with easier access to justice.

The establishment of the Mile 91 Magistrate Court will alleviate the challenges faced by residents who previously had to travel to Magburaka town, the headquarters of Tonkolili District, to access justice. The court will serve not only Mile 91 but also neighbouring chiefdoms, including Kholifa Mabang, Yoni Mabanta, and Malal.

After the official opening, a sitting magistrate will be announced and placed to adjudicate matters in the area. The host Paramount Chief, PC Bai Sebora Thelleh III, extended invitation to stakeholders, ceremonial chiefs, and the general public to attend the occasion and grace the event with their presence.

This development is a welcome relief to residents who have long been calling for improved access to justice. The official opening of the Mile 91 Magistrate Court is a testament to the government’s commitment to ensuring that justice is accessible to all, regardless of geographical location.

The community is eagerly waiting for the historic occasion because many believe this development will reduce the crime rate in the area.
