The Ministry of Planning and Economic Development (MoPED) and the Sierra Leone Association of Non-Governmental Organizations (SLANGO) team from Freetown have concluded meetings with representatives from various International Non-Governmental Organizations (INGOs) and National Non-Governmental Organizations (NNGOs) operating in Kono District. 

The focus of the meeting was to get an insight into their developmental operations and they key issues were discussed ranging from the criteria for registration and renewal of INGOs and NNGOs, ensuring effective coordination and collaboration among partners, and addressing tax compliance requirements. These discussions are aimed at streamlining operations and fostering a more cohesive and efficient partnership between governmental bodies and non-governmental entities.

The meeting attracted active participation from numerous INGOs and NNGOs, underscoring the sector’s commitment to improving development efforts in the country. The event culminated in a unanimous decision to select a lead representative for both INGOs and NNGOs in Kono District, ensuring better representation and communication moving forward.

The representatives made commitments to work with the Ministry as usual in ensuring that they contribute to the developmental strategies in the country with special reference to Kono District being their immediate operational area.
