Orange Sierra Leone has announced an official fixed tariff for Orange Money cashout transactions, warning customers not to pay any additional charges beyond the approved fees and urging them to report any agent who violates the directive.

In an official statement released by the company, Orange Sierra Leone said the move is aimed at protecting customers and ensuring transparency across all Orange Money transactions. The telecommunications operator stressed that its cashout fees are fixed nationwide and that agents are not authorized to collect any extra payments under any circumstances.

“To protect our customers, please be advised that our official fees are fixed. We do not authorize agents to collect additional payments,” Orange Sierra Leone stated. “If you are asked for extra fees, please contact us immediately.”

According to the official tariff guide released by Orange Sierra Leone, cashout transactions are charged at a rate of one percent. The document provides clear examples of the applicable fees, including statutory GST, for different withdrawal amounts. For instance, a cashout of SLe 100 attracts a total fee of SLe 1.15, while a withdrawal of SLe 10,000 attracts a total fee of SLe 115. The guide also shows that cash-in transactions remain free of charge.

The tariff guide, branded under Orange Money, takes effect from November 1, 2024, and applies to all authorized agents across the country. Orange Sierra Leone emphasized that no charges beyond those listed in the official guide should be imposed on customers.

As part of its consumer protection measures, the company has provided a dedicated channel for reporting violations. Customers who are asked to pay extra fees by any Orange Money agent are encouraged to contact Orange Sierra Leone immediately by dialing 505, or by calling or sending an SMS to the same short code.

Orange Sierra Leone said it remains committed to fair pricing, transparency, and customer trust, and called on customers to be vigilant and to help the company enforce compliance by reporting any agent found acting outside the approved tariff.

The company noted that the attached tariff guide is the only official reference for Orange Money cashout fees and urged the public to rely on it when conducting transactions.
