A painter and a kekeh rider have reportedly been released from prison after being granted bail by the Pademba Road Magistrate Court No. 6 in Freetown in connection with multiple charges, including alleged wounding with intent.

Twenty-two-year-old Joseph Sahr Musa, a painter, and twenty-year-old Hassan Bangura, a kekeh rider, appeared before Magistrate Medisah Massaquoi on allegations ranging from conspiracy to commit a felony to assault occasioning actual bodily harm. The charges are said to be contrary to Section 47 of the Offences Against the Person Act of 1861.

According to the particulars of the offence presented in court, the two accused persons allegedly conspired with others on Sunday, 28 December 2025, at No. 2 River Beach in Goderich, Western Area, to commit a felony by wounding with intent.

The prosecution further alleged that the accused wounded one Abubakarr Sesay with the intention of causing him grievous bodily harm. The charges also include malicious wounding and assault resulting in actual bodily harm.

When the matter was mentioned, Prosecutor M. K. Johnson Esq., representing the State, applied for a short adjournment to allow the prosecution sufficient time to prepare for the next stage of the hearing. The application was noted by the court.

Counsel for the accused persons, A. Sesay Esq., subsequently applied for bail on behalf of his clients under Section 76(c) of the Criminal Procedure Act, 2024. After hearing the application, Magistrate Medisah Massaquoi granted bail to both accused persons.

The court admitted Hassan Bangura and Joseph Sahr Musa to bail in the sum of twenty thousand leones each, with two sureties in like sum. The magistrate ordered that the sureties must be residents of Freetown and must present valid identification as well as proof of residence. The bail conditions are subject to approval and verification by the Deputy Assistant Registrar of the court.

The case has been adjourned to 30 January 2026 for further hearing at the Pademba Road Court No. 6.
