John Binneh Conteh, a pastor from the Living Stone Evangelical Ministry in Makeni has been arrested and arraigned before the Pademba Road Magistrate Court on allegations of fraud.

Awoko reports that Conteh stood before Magistrate Santigie Bangura at Pademba Road Court No. 2 on Wednesday, January 15, 2025, facing serious charges of defrauding a fellow pastor out of $7,000 in a vehicle scam.

Conteh was formally arraigned on two counts: conspiracy to defraud and causing money to be paid by means of fraud. According to police reports, the incident unfolded in October 2024, in the Pamalap area of Kambia District, located in Sierra Leone’s Northern Province.

The prosecution alleges that Conteh, in collaboration with unnamed individuals, conspired to deceive Mark Alusine Kamara into parting with $7,000 (equivalent to Le 170,800.00) under the false pretense of purchasing a Sprinter vehicle from a man named Francis Koroma.

Koroma, however, was reportedly not in possession of the vehicle, and the sale was a complete fabrication.

The charges were read out in court, and while Conteh’s legal representatives were present, the pastor did not enter a plea at the time. Instead, the case was adjourned to Monday, January 20, 2025, for further proceedings.
