Magistrate Sahr Kekura of Magistrate Court no 1 Pademba Road has remanded one Pastor Septimus Paul Yambasu to the male correctional Centre at Pademba Road for allegedly insulting President Bio.
The accused person Pastor Yambasu was charged with the offense of insulting conduct contrary to Section 3 (1) of the Public Order Act No. 46 of 1965.
According to the indictment, the accused on the 14th December 2021 along Jui Wilberforce Highway Pastor Septimus Paul Yambasu used obscene and insulting words against President Julius Maada Bio.
Awoko reports that Defence Counsel M Baratay applied for bail pursuant to Section 79 (3) of the Criminal Procedure Act no 32 of 1965. He also told the Magistrate while making his application that the accused person is a religious man and will be available whenever the Court needs him noting that he will not interfere with the prosecution witnesses.
Magistrate Kekura refused bail and remanded him, and then adjourned the matter to the 22nd December 2021.
