Acting on intelligence, the Family Support Unit of Newton (4 Mile) Police Post successfully apprehended 21-year-old Zainab Marian Koroma from the Five Mile Community, Newton (4 Mile).

The arrest is in connection with the theft of 3-year-old Abu Bakarr Koroma from his residence on 10 J Blackhall Road, Coconut Farm, East-end of Freetown.

Abdul Koroma, the distressed father of the abducted child, expressed a mix of emotions as he shed tears of relief and gratitude towards the Waterloo Police. His heartfelt praise came after the police unit managed to reunite him with his son, following his initial report of the missing child/person at the Ross Road Police Station in Freetown.

In a surprising turn of events, Zainab Marian Koroma confessed to the crime of child stealing during police interrogation. She revealed that the desperate act was driven by her intense desire to prove her “womanhood” in response to pressure from both her boyfriend and the community. The Police Media Team of the Waterloo Division reported the suspect’s confession.

The Waterloo Police’s swift and effective response to the intelligence, coupled with the suspect’s admission, has brought closure to the worried father and highlighted the crucial role of law enforcement in ensuring the safety and well-being of the community’s residents. The suspect, Zainab Marian Koroma, is now facing legal consequences for her actions as the investigation continues.
