As part of consolidating the peace and community awareness raising over the impact of disturbing issues within communities, the Sierra Leone Police, kenema division has on the 14th January 2024 organized a day match at the Lango Town Community in Kenema City that ended peacefully.
The match incorporated the installation and certification of the Community Safety Volunteers (CSVs) in the community that will be helping the police in the community relations and management.
The event was made possible by the Community Relations Department (CRD) and the Operations Unit of the Kenema Division.
The town Chief of Lango town, Chief Fallon expressed total pleasure over the engagement as well as assured them of their unwavering support, stating that they would do whatever they could to forester positive relationship between the police and the community.
Sub Inspector B. J Musa who doubles as the Community Relations Officer, disclosed that the event aimed at strengthening the relationship between law enforcement officers and the local community by promoting understanding, goodwill, and teamwork, adding that the event will provide an opportunity for police officers and community members to interact in a non-confrontational environment, and would further foster Mutual understanding, built trust and confidence, and improve the perceptions the public had about police.
Inspector Mohamed Conneh, the Operations Officer for Kenema Division, emphasized that teamwork and collaboration, between the police and the Lango Town community, was eminent and therefore, admonished both teams to work together by promoting a sense of unity and community cohesion.
He stated that the event would promote Positive interactions on the field, which would break down barriers and build up trust and understanding between the police and community members.
The Local Policing Partnership Board (LPPB) Chairman, Anthony Kamara positively highlights the human side of police officers and their commitment to engaging with the community in a constructive manner.
The Chairman emphasized on the collaborative nature of the event, and called for an unending collaboration between the police and the Lango Town community, which he said, will lay the foundation for future joint initiatives and partnerships.
