The Sierra Leone Police (SLP) in the Kailahun Division have reported that they have nabbed Ansu Jalloh and Lamin Ngebai who are suspected to be notorious drug peddlers.
Police revealed that the two suspects were arrested, together with one hundred and thirteen (113) wrapped parcels of suspected drugs known as cannabis sativa that weighed about 7 kilograms.
Regional Crime Officer-East, Detective – Deputy Superintendent of Police (DA/Supt.) said both suspects Saffa and Jalloh, and their cohort ran into ill-luck on the 18th of February 2022, when at about 22:30hrs, they were intercepted by the patrol team of the Kailahun Division. He stated that the patrol commander, Police Corporal 1482 Abdulai ABJ, and his team apprehended both suspects and took them along with the consignments to the Kailahun Police Station, adding that investigations on the issue has commended.
He said that the arrest of these suspects came shortly after newly transferred Deputy Regional Commander – East commissioner of Police, Andrew H. Kamara, had earlier promised that he will embark on robust police operations against crime and issues bordering around it. Kamara opined that the abuse and misuse of drugs have become too worrisome in this part of the region, adding that people of all works of life were now becoming addicted to drugs to an extent that very soon; society will go into extinction if strong measures were not put in place to address the menace.
He encouraged everyone in the east to team up with the police in the fight to control the misuse and abuse of drugs, noting that it needs everybody’s effort to save this present generation.
According to Awoko Newspaper, he disclosed that he had instructed the Crime Officer Kailahun Division; Detective Deputy Superintendent of Police (D/DSP) Sessie, to expedite the investigation and ensure that both culprits are charged to court by Monday.
