An Operational Support Division (OSD) officer is currently evading arrest after large quantities of illicit drugs were discovered in his police quarters at the Sierra Rutile mining area on Thursday, November 6, 2025.
Police identified the wanted officer as OSD personnel 12907 Abu Tejan, attached to the Rutile Police Division in Impere Chiefdom.
The discovery was made after a joint police operation, led by Local Unit Commander Superintendent Ahmed Tejan Salif, searched the officer’s residence.
The operation was launched after a civilian, caught with a wrap of a substance suspected to be Kush, claimed during interrogation that he had purchased it from Tejan’s house.
The search of the police quarters yielded a significant quantity of narcotics. According to a police report, officers found a rubber containing 63 wraps of Kush, 52 wraps of Cannabis, 23 Tramadol tablets, and 13 Tramadol capsules hidden under a chair.
Authorities have confirmed that the accused officer is now on the run. A manhunt operation is currently underway to locate and apprehend him.
The incident comes amid heightened national concern over the abuse of Kush and other illicit substances in Sierra Leone.
