Mohamed Sesay of Titambaya Village, Nimikoro Chiefdom, has been arrested by police officers from the Motema Division in Kono District for allegedly possessing nine bundles of dried leaves believed to be cannabis sativa, locally known as “jamba.”

The arrest was made on Saturday, April 6, 2025, following a credible tip-off from members of the public who alerted authorities about suspicious activity. Acting promptly on the information, Inspector Hassan L. Sesay, who heads the Kumao Police Post, led a team to the scene.

The suspected narcotics were reportedly hidden in the bedroom of one Debora Fomba but were discovered within the compound of Sheku Kamara during a thorough police search.

The swift intervention is said to be part of intensified patrol efforts and enhanced checkpoint monitoring across the district.

Mohamed Sesay is currently in custody as investigations continue into the origin and intended destination of the seized substance.

Law enforcement officials have praised the role of community members in aiding the operation and reiterated their call for continued public support in tackling illegal drug trafficking and ensuring neighborhood safety.
