Residents of Largo Town in Kenema District are pleading for urgent action on a critical bridge that has been left in disrepair.
The bridge serves as a vital artery, connecting Kenema City to major towns like Tongo, Panguma, and Kono District.
According to reports, some rehabilitation work began during the dry season but has since been abandoned for months. The bridge’s proximity to the town is a major cause for concern. Schools, hospitals, and marketplaces all rely on this bridge, and its current state poses a safety hazard. Residents fear they may be cut off from essential services if the bridge collapses.
The Panguma Hospital, a crucial auxiliary facility to the Kenema Government Hospital, is also accessible via this bridge. With the bridge in such poor condition, residents have limited access to vital medical care.
Frustrated residents are calling for a swift response from Kenema District Chairman Mohamed Olevel Sesay and the central government. They urge the authorities to address this critical infrastructure issue before it’s too late.
